Relive your favourite experiences by capturing the wonder and adventure of the aquatic realm with digital underwater photography. It's hard to imagine activities more versatile than underwater imaging. Whether snorkelling, exploring reefs, under ice or on wrecks, if there's something worth seeing, there's something worth photographing. This makes underwater photography a pursuit that mixes well with your other diving activities, and one that permits you to share the underwater world with non-divers. And with the emergence of digital cameras, underwater photography lies within most people's reach and ability.
Our location is ideal for teaching underwater photography and allows much opportunity for photographing a varied number of marine creatures in calm water. We have a professional underwater photographer on staff.
About Exmouth Dive & Whalesharks Ningaloo: As the region’s original eco-tourism operation, Exmouth Dive & Whalesharks Ningaloo is synonymous with experiencing the aquatic treasures of the World Heritage Listed Ningaloo Reef Marine Park. Debbie & Mark Ferguson have been involved taking ecotours around Western Australia for over 20 years, managing the operations of a number of boats in various locations. The team is proud to specialise in small group tours for Whale Shark swims, Humpback Whale swims & watching, scuba diving and snorkelling and is active in numerous conservation projects including Whale Sharks, turtles and Manta Rays.
Our Digital Underwater Photography Specialty course will introduce you to the exclusive SEA Method (Shoot, Examine and Adjust) of digital underwater photography and is available for both divers and snorkellers. You'll learn the fundamentals of underwater photography, from choosing a camera that suits your needs, helpful camera techniques, choosing your subjects wisely and learning to use software to maximise the quality of your photographs.
The marine life found at Ningaloo is incredibly diverse, with 600 different molluscs, and around 500 species of fish in the region. Popular fish sightings range from Parrotfish, Butterflyfish, Angelfish, Damselfish, Scissor Tails, Flutemouths, Wrasse, to larger fish such as Groper, Barracuda, Coral Trout, Cod andTrevally. A huge variety of nudibranches are a delight for photography enthusiasts due to their spectacular colours.
More than 50 per cent of Indian Ocean coral species are found across the Ningaloo Marine Park area, with over 300 species, including Finger, Staghorn, Porites Cabbage, Brain, Lavender, Plate, Mushroom, Bubble and Branching Corals. Whilst not a coral, Anemone’s are common, providing habitat for some of the reef’s most endearing residents; the Clarkes, Pink and Tomato Anemonefish.
Whitetip and Blacktip Reef Sharks, Great and Scalloped Hammerheads, Bronze Whalers, Cat Sharks, Manta Rays, Eagle Rays, Bull Rays and the well-camouflaged Wobbegong are highlights for divers whilst Manta Rays can be seen in performing their incredible courtship dances around April, with the species growing up to 7 metres wide (disc width) and around 1,350 kg.

"Six of us dived Central Station and Floods with these guys off Ningaloo Reef on July 5th. The service was professional and friendly from start to finish both in the shop and upon the boat. We had a great experience with a couple of mantas at a cleaning station and Tibo did a brilliant job as guide and dive master. Thanks for a terrific day." - Steve, Australia
"My husband and I got our open water dive cert through the Exmouth Dive & Whalesharks Ningaloo Centre, and I couldn't be more happy with our decision to do so! Our instructor, Tibo, was the most incredible guy to have teach us what we needed to know in order to open us up to the world of diving. He was extremely funny and laid back on the surface, and nothing but professional underwater. Tibo was extremely patient with me while waiting for me to steel my nerves to do this skill both in the pool and in the reef. I never once felt pressured, or hurried. Tibo made me feel confortable and at ease in order to complete all of the skills needed to get certifited. That's the definition of a good teacher! We would HIGHLY recommend Exmouth Diving to all friends and family who make it up this way." - Stephanie, Australia
"From the moment I got picked up to getting off the boat I was impressed with the professionalism and smoothness of the day. Monica, Kiara (dive guides) and the captain (Mark) showed us the wonders of Ningaloo and we all had an exceptionally fun and exciting day. I highly recommend Exmouth Dive Centre!" - Veronica, Australia
